Demons

This teaching confronts us with an uncomfortable reality: we are engaged in a spiritual war whether we acknowledge it or not. Drawing from Mark 5 and the account of the demon-possessed man among the tombs, we're reminded that Satan is not merely a symbol of evil but a real, created being with billions of fallen angels at his command. The message challenges our modern tendency to dismiss spiritual warfare as superstition, pointing out that 58% of Americans believe in the devil, yet most view him only as a symbolic representation rather than an active enemy. We learn that Satan was created as a covering cherub, beautiful and perfect until pride corrupted him, and that he now operates through an organized hierarchy of principalities, powers, and rulers of darkness. The teaching warns us about the footholds we inadvertently give the enemy through alcohol, drugs, pornography, occult practices, and even seemingly innocent activities. Most striking is the reminder that our battle is not against people—not against political opponents or cultural adversaries—but against unseen spiritual forces manipulating events and people like pawns on a chessboard. As believers covered by the blood of Jesus, we need not fear, but we must be vigilant, aware, and armed with the Word of God.
